Frequently Asked Questions

What subjects do you tutor?

The subjects listed under our Programs and Services are tutored at a postsecondary level, although we can work with high school students that are interested in improving their grades in those areas.

When are you available for tutoring?

There are no set hours with regard to availability, since every student is different and their schedules are unique. Every appointment will be dependent on the schedules of our tutors and of individual students, and should be made accordingly.

How does scheduling work?

For most students, sessions will be set at the same time each week. This will be discussed in the initial consultation, and alterations to schedules may be discussed at that point as well. Some sessions may also be scheduled on an as-needed basis depending on the availability of tutors.

How does online tutoring work?

Students must have access to computers or cellphones with high-speed internet in order to use outlets such as Skype, Google Hangouts, or Whatsapp for instant chats. Worksheets and images may then be uploaded, and videos may be watched in an interactive manner, in order to emphasize or clarify certain concepts.

How many tutoring sessions will I need?

This is fully dependent on the types of goals that students have. For instance, students that desire to obtain a high level score in particular subjects require more sessions than students who are only interested in gaining an understanding of some topics. Moreover, the length of sessions may vary in accordance to the aims and requirements of each student.

How does payment work?

Students will only be required to pay per-session, unless otherwise specified and agreed upon. The longer the session, the more expensive, especially if it involves significant travel. Payment must be made before the session begins.

What is your cancellation policy?

The cancellation policy is based on a 24-hour notice requirement, and excessive cancellations may be grounds for terminating tutoring cervices. However, rescheduling is always an option and Universal Learning is committed to making tutoring and academic arrangements work for both tutors and students.

How do I get started?

Universal Learning is only available on a first-come-first-serve basis and a tutoring or academic coaching arrangement may only be made when there are spaces available. Contact us today to learn more about our availability.
